This soon became irrelevant, as everyone began leaving. There was an accident or disaster. People were fleeing the general area, seeking higher ground, trying to get away from approaching and rising waters. But the water was actually oil, or a black liquid. I remember traveling along dirt roads, seeking higher hill tops to avoid getting touched or carried away. At one point, my brother had obtained a large yellow tractor. He drove past me and picked me up. I am not sure why this tractor was necessary or helpful, but it was probably the best and only vehicle in this location, which must have been connected to a rural construction site of sorts, given the dirt roads, paths, and hills.
Fast forwarding somewhat, I next remember being with a good friend of mine (someone I don't recognize now). We were like traveling companions. I still remember his overall features: about 6 foot, dark curly hair, intelligent and with a good sense of humor. Perhaps we had met up at one point along the way and were surviving together and keeping each other company. We roamed through abandoned buildings on our path seeking some thing or some place. Again, most of the terrain was dirt road, even that leading up to urban housing and decaying buildings.
There had been an official word announced that it was "every man for himself" now. I am not sure if we were on a scavenger hunt or were on a race to reach a specific location, or if official society had devolved to the point where there would be no services or assistance. At this point, my friend began racing away. His blocked my exit from a room in the building we were passing through with his arm as if to push me back and away. Suddenly, I felt betrayed, as if he had sold our friendship out for whatever immediate convenience or prize awaited. I caught up outside, grabbed his arm and threw him to the ground, asking him how he could be so frivolous as to forget our friendship that easily. I noticed that his forehead was bleeding. I let him up and we both started laughing wildly at the whole thing.
Traveling onward, we took rest between some buildings. On the ground, in the dirt and grass, along with other random bits of rubbish, was a large rectangular cake looking object, almost the size of a sofa cushion. On top of it was a thick orange-brown glaze. It must have been alive as it moved around like an slimey oozing blob that had living intelligence. Somehow we knew that it contained psychedelic effects and we sat down to ingest it. However, I brought up concerns about how the last psychedelic experience with a plant did not fair so well (a result of toxic contamination?).
The dream gets hazy when I am return back to "camp". A woman, probably in her mid 20's was standing against a wall next to an open door in yet another abandoned building. She seemed to be looking to make a friend, was flirting or looking for a favor. I told her that I was looking for my girlfriend, who I believed was being held against her will or was in some kind of trouble. From that period on I have no further recall.
